Saitama University (SU), established in 1949, is located in a suburban area of Sakura-ku, Saitama City in Tokyo, Japan. It was formed through the merger of three institutions: Saitama Normal School, Urawa Higher School, and Saitama Youth Normal School. The university offers the 2025 Saitama University MEXT Scholarship for international students wishing to pursue a PhD degree in Japan. This prestigious scholarship is fully funded, covering all study expenses for a duration of three years. Saitama University MEXT Scholarship 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have or expect to have a Master’s Degree before enrollment. Applicants must be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with the Japanese Government. Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2025. Applicants must have excellent academic achievements. Applicants should be in good mental and physical health. Applicants must reside outside Japan at the time of application and cannot hold Japanese nationality. Applicants must be able to arrive in Japan by the end of September 2025 on a date designated by Saitama University. Applicants must not have been awarded the Japanese Government Scholarship in the past three years. Proof of English language proficiency is required. Tuition Fees: The tuition fee for the PhD program at Saitama University is 535,800 yen per year for privately funded students. Scholarship Benefits: Full tuition fee coverage. A stipend of 145,000 yen per month. Regional allowance of 3,000 yen. Round-trip airfare between the applicant’s home country and Japan. Documents Required: Application form. Certificate of English Proficiency. Copy of passport. Two Letters of Recommendation. Abstract of thesis. Field of Study and Research Plan. Official Certificate of Grades. Official Certificate of Graduation or Expected Graduation from the most recent academic institution attended. Application Procedure: Visit the scholarship webpage.
